Citizenship and added family members explained

Under most CBI programmes, an applicant is allowed to include certain close family members as dependants in their application. The scope of eligible dependants varies across different jurisdictions but usually includes the main applicant’s spouse and children, and in some jurisdictions, parents, grandparents and siblings. Once an application is approved and the main applicant has made the legally required investment, the main applicant and all their dependants are all entitled to citizenship.

After a main applicant acquires citizenship through CBI, the main applicant may also make a post-citizenship application to register family members who were not included in their original application as citizens of the country.

A main applicant may also make a post-citizenship application to register their newly married spouse and new-born children as citizens.
