Antigua and Barbuda Updates UWI Option

On 11 May, Antigua and Barbuda announced changes to the University of the West Indies Fund (UWIF) option of the country’s Citizenship by Investment Programme. The changes are applicable immediately.

Antigua and Barbuda has announced updates to the UWIF option, its most recent addition to the Citizenship by Investment Programme.

Applications under the UWIF option entitle one member of the main applicant’s family to a one-year scholarship at the University of the West Indies.

Under the new changes, the minimum number of persons that must be included in an application under the UWIF option has been increased from four to six and the following costs and fees now apply:

Applicant TypeContribution Amount
Family of six or moreUS$150,000
Applicant TypeGovernment (Processing) Fees
Family of up to sixIncluded in the contribution amount
Any additional dependantUS$15,000

Due Diligence Fees, Passport Fees, and Bank Administrative Fees remain unchanged.

What does this update mean for me?

Previously under the UWIF option, a family of six was required to make a contribution of US$150,000 and pay an additional US$60,000 in Government (Processing) Fees. The new changes have therefore significantly reduced the overall contribution amount for a family of six.
However, while previously a family of four or five could apply under this option, the option has now been made exclusive to families of at least six people.
