In building a climate-resilient nation, CREAD supports the advancement of the nation’s response to climate change, economic and infrastructure developments, and the creation of resilient communities.
Prime Minister Skerrit stated that he believes, all things considered, that CREAD has done a remarkable job. He commended how the agency has set the framework in place and taken specific actions towards building resilience within the country.

World’s first climate-resilient nation?
Dominica has strategically activated various projects involving creating a climate-resilient nation. “When we speak about resilience we are not only talking about the physical space.”
We are also referring to;
- our fiscal policies,
- our economy,
- our health systems,
- our education systems,
- our forests, and
- our marine space,” explained the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Skerrit highlighted that the government is planning for resilience to become part of each ministry’s activities. The aim is to ensure that resilient planning is frequently implemented. He further noted that the Ministry of Public Works will have a project distribution unit to govern project management and implementation in the country.
Indications show that Dominica may be the only country with a national strategy for resiliency in the world. One of Dominica’s goals is to become a global leader in climate resilience, with innovative projects underway. The island anticipates significant GDP growth this year influenced by numerous sectors that are adapting to resilience and sustainability. Global investors can form part of Dominica’s climate-resilient community through the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.
