On 13 August 2019, with Decree No. 5781, the President of Uzbekistan adopted new measures to develop Uzbekistan’s tourism, including the granting of visa-free travel rights to holders of Dominican passports. The decision was officially communicated by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United States to its Dominican counterpart on 9 September 2019.
Specifically, the visa-free travel regime:
- Came into force on 1 January 2020
- Applies to all Dominican passport holders, including ordinary, diplomatic, and service passports
- Applies to all visits of up to 30 days
- Applies to visits undertaken for any purpose, including tourism and business
- Applies to any person carrying a valid Dominican passport
What does this update mean for me?
Covid-19 restrictions currently remain in place, resulting in people generally not being able to make use of their visa-free and visa-on-arrival travel rights. However, the situation is expected to be temporary, and, as things normalise again, as a citizen of Dominica you will be able to visit Uzbekistan (as well as around 140 other destinations) without needing to apply for a visa beforehand.
