Antigua and Barbuda Covid-19 Travel Update

In an effort to defend its borders in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Antigua and Barbuda has announced that, as of 12 March 2020, it will deny entry to any foreign national who has travelled to the following countries within the past 28 days:

  • China
  • Italy
  • Iran
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Singapore

What does this update mean for me?

1. Are you a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda?

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has confirmed that the travel denial will not affect citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. This includes people who obtained citizenship under the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Programme.

However, any person coming from one of the nations mentioned above may be quarantined as necessary.

Therefore, if you wish to travel to Antigua and Barbuda to complete your Oath of Allegiance and 5-day residence requirements after receiving citizenship, you may do so, but please be aware that you may need to remain in quarantine throughout your stay.

2. Are you a prospective citizen of Antigua and Barbuda?

If you have yet to apply for or receive citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda (as confirmed by a Certificate of Registration), and you have visited the nations mentioned above less than 28 days prior to your arrival in Antigua and Barbuda, you will be denied entry to the country.

Please factor this in mind if you intend to visit Antigua and Barbuda, for example, for purposes of viewing real estate you intend to buy under the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
